Job Title: Pizzeria Counter Associate
Position Overview
The Pizzeria Counter Associate serves as the first point of contact for customers. This role includes greeting guests, taking orders accurately, handling payments/point-of-sale systems, coordinating with the kitchen, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Order Handling
- Greet customers warmly as they enter the pizzeria or approach the counter.
- Take orders accurately for dine-in, takeout, and phone-in customers.
- Provide menu knowledge, including specials, ingredients, and customization options.
- Suggest add-ons or promotions when appropriate.
- Ensure orders are communicated clearly to kitchen staff.
Cashier & Point-of-Sale (POS) Duties
- Operate the POS system efficiently.
- Process cash, card, and mobile payments with accuracy.
- Issue receipts, make change, and handle refunds when needed.
- Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts (if assigned).
Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with pizza makers and kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Monitor order status and provide updates to customers.
- Communicate any special requests or dietary needs to the kitchen team.
Side Tasks & Additional Duties
Food Prep Support (Front-of-House)
- Prepare/stock simple items such as beverages, dipping sauces, dessert items, etc.
- Restock toppings, utensils, napkins, condiments, and to-go containers.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Keep the counter area clean, organized, and sanitized throughout the shift.
- Wipe tables and maintain a tidy dining area as needed.
- Sweep or mop small front-of-house areas.
- Take out trash and recycling at designated times.
Inventory & Stock Rotation
- Restock bottled drinks, chips, and grab-and-go foods.
- Check inventory levels of paper products and packaging supplies.
- Rotate stock to ensure freshness and proper organization.
Phone & Delivery Coordination
- Answer the phone politely, take orders, and provide estimated pickup times.
- Coordinate with delivery drivers when applicable.
- Help package orders for delivery and pickup.
Team Support
- Assist coworkers during rushes or slow periods as needed.
- Participate in opening and closing duties (e.g., setting up the counter, shutting down equipment, completing checklists).
Qualifications
- Friendly, positive attitude and strong communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for handling payments.
- Customer service experience preferred; restaurant experience is a plus.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Reliable transportation and valid NYS ID.
**PAY TO COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY**
Compensation: $17.00 per hour

After Mr. Farnsworth’s passing and subsequent closing in 2005, Carver Laraway purchased the property and renovated the restaurant into a banquet facility.
