Job Summary
We are seeking a talented Sous Chef to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with our Head Chef to create innovative menus/specials and prepare delicious meals. The ideal candidate is experienced, creative, and a strong leader. If you have a passion for creating meals that “wow,” we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Create innovative menus according to the seasonal availability of ingredients and customer expectations
- Prepare and plate food according to kitchen specifications in a sanitary and timely manner
- Assist Head Chef with kitchen operations with a goal of increasing revenue and profit
- Supervise and coordinate food preparation and presentation
- Provide training and leadership for kitchen staff
- Maintain appropriate levels of inventory and check in all incoming deliveries for appropriate inventory
- Follow all food safety rules and regulations
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines
- Assist with cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment
- Assume responsibility of the quality of food that is cooked & served
- Ability to supervise kitchen and associated employees in absence of Head Chef
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED
- Previous culinary experience
- Certification from culinary school preferred
- ServeSafe or Food Handler’s Certification
- Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques and recipes
- Ability to remain calm and thrive under pressure
- Excellent management and leadership skills
- Skills: attention to detail, task reception, organization
- RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION IS A MUST
- GRILL, FRY, SAUTE experience is a MUST
**PAY TO COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE**

Compensation: $58,000.00 per year
Settles Hill Banquets and Events was originally founded in 1991 by Jock Farnsworth, who had purchased 465 magnificent acres and built The Tree Farm Restaurant in Altamont, NY. After Mr. Farnsworth’s passing and subsequent closing in 2005, Carver Laraway purchased the property and renovated the restaurant into a banquet facility. In 2008, the DePasquale family, former owner of The Backgrounds Restaurant in Schenectady, NY, took over the facility and created Settles Hill Banquets & Events.
